Birth of my Butterflies

Mom has been teaching me about patience and science. We ordered caterpillar larvae a few weeks ago and we have been taking care of them and growing them for weeks now. They got really big and crawled to the top of our home for them and hung upside down inside a cocoon, called a chrysallis, that they made for themselves. About a week later, the 5 caterpillars turned into butterflies. I watched them be born. It was very exciting. They had beautiful wings. We kept them in our man made home for a few days until the babies could fly on their own. Today was a very exciting day - we released our butterflies into the wild. At first, they did not want to leave the nice home we made for them. They had a beautiful view and a warm house filled with fresh air and sugar water and apples and flowers and leaves. No wonder they did not want to "leave" us - no pun intended. Bye Bye Butterflies.
